Armistice Day

IMG_3219

In honor of the Veterans of The Kirk Estate and to the women who stood by their side once they returned. Pictured left: James L. Kirk 82nd Airborne, WWII. center: Luther C. Warner Ambulance Corps, WWI. right: Margaret Kirk Warner + Luther C. Warner on their wedding day, November 11, 1922.

Below find one of many correspondences between great-great uncle Luther + great-great aunt Margaret from the front. Margaret + Luther were school friends who continued to write letters throughout WWI. Through those letters they gained affection, then love. They married on the fourth anniversary of Armistice Day. It was the war that brought them together and I can nearly hear them celebrating in the parlor now…
